Drop the egg through a tube whose inner diameter is just bigger than that of the egg. One end of the tube has to be closed. Drop the egg into the tube with the closed end down.
The egg will drop slowly into the tube because the air trapped inside the tube takes time to rush out in the space between the tube & the egg. The closer the fit the slower the descent.
Then just invert the tube (closed end up) for your egg drop project !!!!

Yes, the volume of the bottle will effect the speed that is goes in (given that you push each egg with the same force.)

It might be better to say "Will the volume of a bottle effect the force needed to push an egg into the bottle?"

As you push the egg into the bottle, you create pressure inside the bottle as you squeeze the air together. In a large bottle, the pressure is less because the air that you squeeze is small compared to all the air in the bottle. But for a small bottle, you are really cramming the air together, so the pressure is higher (therefore less speed).
